NDEP Launches Redesigned Website
The National Diabetes Education Program
(NDEP) recently launched its redesigned
website, www.YourDiabetesInfo.org. The
redesign was based on formal usability testing
and partner feedback. The new user-friendly,
easy-to-navigate site allows partners to quickly
find free diabetes resources and information about
partner activities.
New and improved features of the site include
- separate entrance portals for people who have
diabetes; people who may be at risk of diabetes;
health care professionals, businesses, and
schools; and NDEP partners and community
organizations
- a new section for NDEP partners
- a new, sortable list of publications
- a new “Resources” tab, which replaces the
“Campaign Tools” tab
- two new tabs: “Find Publications for Me”
and “Diabetes Topics”
New and updated NDEP resources include
- Tips For Kids: How to Lower Your Risk for
Type 2 Diabetes. This easy-to-read tip sheet
contains the basics about reducing risk for
type 2 diabetes for children and their families.
A list of diabetes resources is also included.
- New Control Your Diabetes. For Life. campaign
materials. The NDEP has refreshed this
campaign’s messages directed toward people
with diabetes to communicate the seriousness
of diabetes, the importance of managing the
disease to prevent or delay complications, the
idea that managing diabetes is not easy but
is worth it, and the importance of making a
plan. The print public service announcement
and poster series feature people from around
the United States living with diabetes who
reflect a range of ethnicities and ages.
The NDEP, which is sponsored by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services’
National Institutes of Health and the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention, offers free
resources to help health care professionals disseminate
diabetes information to patients from a
variety of cultural backgrounds.
All NDEP materials are copyright-free and
single copies are free of charge. Many are available
on printer-ready CDs, making it convenient
for organizations to add their logo and print
desired quantities. Visit the NDEP at
www.YourDiabetesInfo.org to download or
